During research for “Window to the Future” I came across a live commercial circa 1950 for a 1951 Dumont television set. There are two things that make this interesting. The first is that the commercial for the set was also broadcast on the Dumont television network which only existed for a few years from the early to mid-1950s. The second is that the commercial opens with the same actors in a Norman Rockwell ad which I immediately recognized from my collection. Thus, this video opens with the print ad in color, transforms into the same ad in the b&w broadcast, and then segues into the same actors who had posed for the ad seated for the opening of the commercial. Keep your eyes on the girl: she looks off to the side to the director for her cue to come to life.
